Gen Z at Morrows: The next gen of hardworking trailblazers
“Gen Z are good for the soul,” says Robyn Morrow, General Manager at Morrows. “I’ve found they’re not set in their ways. They don’t have the world on their shoulders and they bring an openness and sense of fun with them.”
You often hear the media and general society giving Gen Z “a bad wrap” and that “they want everything on a silver platter but don’t want to work for it,” says Robyn. “As a general rule, our experience has been the opposite.” Given the economic climate, Gen Z recognise that to achieve their dreams and ambitions, they have to jump all in.
Driven, Dedicated and Up for the Challenge
Across Morrows, from Noble Park to Keysborough, mechanics to admin, you’ll find a vibrant crew of Gen Z-ers who show up with drive, a great attitude and serious commitment.
“They’re ambitious, hardworking, and don’t expect everything to be handed to them without action. Many of them will take on extra hours or roles to grow—personally and professionally,” says Robyn. “They’re incredibly team-oriented too. Ask for volunteers, and they’ll be the first to raise their hands.”
They also embrace change and want to improve things—from systems to safety.
Our Gen Z’s, Making Waves
Take Shay, who joined the team at 19 with little admin experience. Three years on, she keeps Morrows on track—from our HR system, safety, licence renewals—you name it. “She’s also returned to uni to continue studying for her Business Degree while working four days a week. She’s not here just for the pay; she’s genuinely invested,” says Robyn.
Then there’s Callan, who’s been with Morrows for six years since completing secondary school. “He’s done it all—admin, warehouse, workshop admin—and he’s the first to stay back or show up on a Saturday when needed.”
And then there's Ollie, who at 19 is helping to lead at our Noble Park team, working alongside team members twice his age. “He’s mature, proactive, and respected.”
