Keeping the lights on: Behind the scenes support

At Morrows, we support infrastructure clients who don’t have the luxury of waiting around. Their work is critical—often tied to government contracts with strict KPIs, particularly around fault response times and service delivery.

Take our clients in the energy sector. They’re responsible for keeping the power on across Victoria. If there’s an outage, they only have a small window to respond, fix it, and restore supply.

That’s where we come in. We manage the storage and distribution of their equipment and keep their technicians stocked—because when things go wrong, the last thing they need is a missing part or delayed delivery.

Bigger industry players run their solutions on strict systemised processes and procedures, which may not offer the same level of flexibility. And, often, that approach isn’t sustainable for these clients.

“Our flexibility helps our infrastructure clients maintain their KPIs. And if that means opening the warehouse at 2am? We do it. Because that’s the beauty of Morrows, we’re flexible and agile,” says Shannon Lomas, Logistics Manager at Morrows.

Behind the Big Builds

We also support major construction projects where freight is long, heavy and oversized. Our clients store their equipment with us well in advance (often over months of planning), and everything needs to move quickly once the project is greenlit.

“Having their materials on hand with us gives them the confidence to hit the ground running when construction starts,” said Shannon.

And because their industry is unpredictable, the way Morrows operates means we’re set up to handle last-minute changes.

How do we do it. Well, let’s say, freight arrives in bulk with little warning. We assess available space, shift things across sites, and find a way to make it work.

Solutions, Not Setbacks

We’ve built long-term relationships by understanding what success looks like for each client—not just in their business, but for their end customers too.

Our team knows our client’s products inside out. We allow for unplanned visits, urgent collections, and are as flexible as possible when it comes to finding a solution for them.

For example, “One client had a large-volume delivery arrive at Morrows with urgent storage needs,” said Shannon. “With no advance notice, we had to find a solution to accommodate their immediate needs.”

After much collaboration and internal discussion, the solution was to pull down two rows of racking to bulk stack the client’s goods.

“Sure, it took extra labour on our behalf to make this happen,” said Shannon. “…But we were upfront with the client. And they appreciated the effort and clear communication.”

But at Morrows, there’s always a solution. So while it’s sometimes a surprise, or a challenge at first, the team recognise this is part and parcel when building these unique and long-standing partnerships.

“That’s how we work—and it’s why our clients keep returning to us when they experience unforeseen or unplanned challenges,” said Shannon.
