Scania Euro 6: A Cleaner Way to Run a Fleet
For Morrows Logistics, fleet decisions are about far more than trucks on the road. They’re about uptime, environmental responsibility, and giving drivers the best tools to do their job well. According to General Manager Valentin Teles, Morrows’ long-standing partnership with Scania delivers on all three.
A Partnership That Reduces Downtime
Morrows’ relationship with Scania spans more than 40 years and has evolved alongside the business. “We have our own mechanics working as part of our workshop,” Val says. “We maintain the fleet ourselves, which means we have the ability to quickly address defects and reduce downtime. The trucks are back on the road faster.”
That close working relationship extends beyond trucks alone. “David, our Managing Director, has had a long-standing partnership with Scania and has replaced the fleet several times over the years,” Val explains. “They’ve worked hand-in-hand with the needs of the business. Our other suppliers, particularly our trailer partners, are equally important — they work with Scania and us to be available all the time.”
Why Euro 6 Matters
Today, more than 90% of Morrows’ fleet meets the Euro 6 standard. “Trucking has traditionally been seen as an emissions-heavy industry,” Val says. “Trucks use fuel, and people assume all of that goes straight into the atmosphere. But we invest heavily in our trucks to ensure they have a minimal impact on the environment. We tick a lot of boxes when it comes to sustainability.”
Euro 6 technology delivers what Val describes as the best balance available today. “Electric trucks don’t yet give us the flexibility we need,” he says. “With Euro 6 standards, we get the power of combustion engines, but we pay a premium to ensure very little goes into the atmosphere.”
Cleaner Air Through Fume Recycling
A key advancement in Scania’s Euro 6 engines is fume-recycling technology, which significantly cleans exhaust gases before they are released into the air. The system captures and treats fumes, so far fewer pollutants reach the atmosphere, helping reduce nitrogen oxides and other harmful emissions.
In practical terms, the exhaust air from Euro 6 trucks can register an Air Quality Index (AQI) of around 5, substantially cleaner than typical urban air. By comparison, Melbourne’s average AQI fluctuates between 10 and 60 on any given day.
Built for Drivers, Too
Environmental performance isn’t the only benefit. “The comfort of these trucks to drive is excellent,” Val adds. “We take pride in providing the right tools for our drivers.”
For Morrows Logistics, investing in Euro 6 Scania trucks is about safeguarding the environment, while also building a high performance fleet for everyone we serve.
